IDEAL CANDIDATE:

This role will suit an experienced bid professional who is comfortable leading complex tenders within a fast-paced professional services environment. You will have:

  • A strong track record managing end-to-end bid processes, ideally across public sector and complex multi-disciplinary opportunities.
  • Experience operating within a professional services environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to interpret and respond to client and stakeholder requirements.
  • Confidence engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Proven people management capability, with experience supporting and developing others.

A professional, positive approach with sound judgement, including the ability to manage confidential information.

The Role

The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Partner and will take ownership of the end-to-end bid function, including the strategy, development and delivery of high-quality tenders, pitches and business development materials. The role will also focus on driving continuous improvement across processes, systems and team capability.

Pipeline Management

  • Work closely with partners to identify and track new business opportunities.
  • Monitor opportunities across existing and target clients.
  • Maintain and develop the tender library, ensuring continuous improvement based on feedback and best practice.
  • Coordinate document production and drafting processes.
  • Maintain and develop practice area panels and client targeting lists.

Tender Execution, Project Management & Writing

  • Lead Bid/No Bid decisions in collaboration with senior stakeholders.
  • Advise on bid strategy, including win themes, positioning and key differentiators.
  • Conduct market and client research to inform submissions.
  • Support pricing strategy discussions with senior stakeholders.
  • Draft, edit and refine high-quality, client-focused bid content.
  • Manage the full bid lifecycle, including sourcing and developing content.
  • Liaise with fee earners and business support teams to gather inputs.
  • Coach and support teams in advance of client presentations.
  • Manage feedback processes, including post-submission reviews and implementation of improvements.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Coordinate and contribute to senior management tender meetings.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the bid team to ensure consistent high performance.
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across the firm.
  • Drive continuous improvement through structured post-bid reviews and process enhancements.

Business Development Support

  • Provide regular reporting to partners on business development activity and outcomes.
  • Support legal directory submissions, working with marketing teams on inputs for publications such as Legal 500 and Chambers.
  • Deliver training sessions to fee earners on tendering and bid best practice.

Experience

  • Degree educated.
  • 6+ years’ relevant experience, with a strong focus on bid and proposal management.
  • Experience at Manager level is a BIG PLUS
  • Experience working in a corporate or professional services bid environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with tender portals and procurement processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Experience

  • Degree educated.
